Welcome to my studio.

I'm Emily, a mixed-media botanical artist, stationer, avid book reader, and novelist-in-the-works (stay tuned!). Whether you have found yourself here in search of a greeting card or an original work of art or simply to scroll a bit, I hope you will leave with the same thing I always come here to find... The Colorful Silence.

“What keeps my heart awake is colorful silence. It's on the strength of observation and reflection that one finds a way. So we must dig and delve unceasingly. Everyday I discover more and more beautiful things.”  ~Claude Monet

Nature calms me to my core. It reminds me to look and see. To breathe through life’s obstacles and losses. To listen for what matters in all the noise. To notice beauty in something as simple as a flower petal or a wilted leaf or a country landscape (even one I’ve passed a hundred times on my way to collect the kids from school).

When I turn to nature, I feel most alive. And yet, nature is always dying. Always being reborn. It teaches me to do the same. If only I will stop to listen.

I hope my work will call to the paradox in you. That place where life and death are friends, where yes and no enjoy each other’s company, where tears and laughter collide.

I also hope you will indulge the power of a handwritten note, even a very short one. I once received a mysterious postcard that simply said ‘you are loved’. It got me through a very dark season of life. So though stationary could be considered a trite product, I think it is one of the most powerful tools in the world. It might as well be beautiful! The pen truly is mightier than the sword.

With that, I’m glad you’re here. I hope my work inspires you to kick off your shoes, take a barefoot stroll through the grass, and stare steadily up at the spacious sky in speechless wonder.

“People must first of all learn to look at nature, only then may they see and understand.” ~Claude Monet

Xo,

Emily
